Our Story
Athlete Zone came out of informal conversations about the need for more communication, support, and guidance in system navigation for individuals facing conflict or dealing with concerns in their sport systems. Athlete Zone was created to advance the mission of offering free, accessible, confidential, and unbiased sport support. Every director and advisor associated with the Athlete Zone project is an athlete, or former athlete, who not only understands maltreatment in sport on a professional level, but all possess the deeper understanding that comes from personal experience. Many Athlete Zone team members have chosen to focus on sport maltreatment as their specialized area of academic study and/or in their professional careers.
